WHAT TESTOSTERONE ACTUALLY DOES
Testosterone isn’t just a number on a lab report. It’s involved in how your body regulates energy, mood, concentration and sex drive, so when it drops, it rarely shows up as one isolated problem.
Your labs tell us half of it. How you’re actually feeling tells us the other half. A result sitting inside the reference range doesn’t settle the question on its own.
More energy. Better stamina
Increased mental clarity and mood
Improved libido and sexual function
Confidence you haven't felt in years
Every treatment plan at Optima is built by Daniel Black, FNP-C, or Travis Squyres, FNP-C — not AI, not a call center, not a rotating roster of strangers. They know your name, your labs and your goals
What we prescribe
Testosterone Therapy at Our Tyler Clinic
Optima treats low testosterone with injectable testosterone cypionate and testosterone enanthate — the two most established and most studied forms of testosterone therapy. No proprietary blends, no mystery compounds.
You choose how you take it. Many of our Tyler patients come to the clinic on West Houston Street and we handle the injection. Others are trained to do it at home, on their own schedule. Same medication, same monitoring, same price.
Your prescription is filled by a licensed Texas pharmacy and shipped discreetly to your door. We track your dose and send the refill before your vial runs out — depending on your dose that's usually every seven to eleven weeks, not a package every month. Follow-up labs confirm the dose is working, and they're included; no separate lab bill at the end of the year.
Planning to have children in the next year? Testosterone therapy temporarily suppresses sperm production. For most men it returns to baseline after stopping, but that recovery takes time — which is why timing matters if a family is close. Enclomiphene works the other way: it raises your own testosterone while sperm production continues. If that's where you are right now, enclomiphene may be the better fit.

- Follow-up visits with Daniel Black, FNP-C or Travis Squyres, FNP-C
- Follow-up lab work — no annual lab fee, no add-ons
- ED prescriptions at no extra charge — you pay only your pharmacy's price
- Telehealth or in-clinic visits, your choice
TESTOSTERONE THERAPY QUESTIONS FROM TYLER AND EAST TEXAS PATIENTS
-
$150 for your initial labs and consultation, then $150 per month. That monthly price includes your prescription, follow-up visits, and follow-up lab work. We're cash-pay and don't bill insurance, so the price you see is the price you pay — no annual lab fee, no add-on charges.
-
No. You can book directly with us. Most men start by scheduling a new-patient appointment, and we order your lab work from there.
-
At our Tyler clinic at 327 W Houston Street, or at any CPL location — convenient if you're coming from Longview, Whitehouse, Lindale, or elsewhere in East Texas.
For an additional charge, we can even mail you a lab kit you can use at home. -
No. Optima is cash-pay. A lot of TRT clinics bill insurance for the visit and then surprise you with lab fees and medication costs. We price everything up front instead.
-
Daniel Black, FNP-C or Travis Squyres, FNP-C — the two owners of the clinic. Not a call center, not a rotating roster. The provider who reviews your labs is the same one you see at follow-up.
-
Not necessarily. Most clinics order total testosterone only, and that single number can sit inside the reference range while the testosterone your body can actually use is low. We run total testosterone, free testosterone, and SHBG as part of a fuller panel, because SHBG is often what explains the gap between a normal-looking number and how you actually feel.
A reference range describes a population, not you — normal and optimal are not the same thing. A result inside the range doesn’t automatically end the conversation. Your provider reads all three markers alongside the symptoms you’re living with, considers what else could be causing them, and makes the call with you rather than for you.
-
Injectable testosterone cypionate and testosterone enanthate.
-
Your choice. Some patients come to the clinic and we administer it. Most are trained to inject at home, either intra-muscular or subcutaneous. We confirm either way with follow-up labs.
-
Yes. Visits are real-time video with your provider, and your prescription ships to your door. Lab work is the only part that needs a sample, and you have three ways to handle it: draw it at our Tyler clinic, use any CPL location near you, or have an at-home lab kit mailed to you for an additional fee.
-
Included in the monthly program at no extra charge. Your provider sets the interval — more often early while we're dialing in your dose, less often once you're stable.
-
It varies. Some men notice changes in energy and mood within the first few weeks; changes in body composition generally take longer. Your provider will set expectations based on your labs and your starting point.
-
Yes. Testosterone is a Schedule III medication, which means it's prescribed and monitored more carefully than most. Before any prescription leaves our clinic we check the Texas Prescription Monitoring Program — a safety step a lot of online clinics skip. It's part of why we ask for labs before we treat.
-
Adults only. We see patients in person at our Tyler clinic and by telehealth throughout Texas.
-
A full panel, not just a testosterone number: total testosterone, free testosterone, SHBG, estradiol, FSH, LH, CBC, CMP, TSH, PSA and a lipid panel. Thyroid, blood count and metabolic markers rule out the other common causes of the same symptoms, and PSA is a baseline safety check before any man starts therapy. FSH and LH are drawn once, at the start — low testosterone alongside low FSH and LH points to the brain’s signaling rather than the testicles, which both tells your provider whether enclomiphene might suit you better than TRT and makes sure nothing in the pituitary is being missed. They aren’t repeated at follow-up, because testosterone therapy suppresses them by design and the result wouldn’t tell us anything new.
