Who We Are
Optima is locally owned and operated by Daniel Black and Travis Squyres, Family Nurse Practitioners who envision bringing convenient specialty medical services to Tyler, Texas, and beyond. Daniel and Travis understand life is busy and complicated, but receiving customized medical care should not be. As such, they strive to make access to specialty medical care as streamlined and convenient as possible.
Daniel Black, FNP-C
Dan was born in West Texas, raised in Central Texas, and married his beautiful wife in the tall pine trees of East Texas. Dan has numerous years of experience providing medically assisted weight loss, utilizing innovative therapies to help his patients achieve their health goals. He has two lovely daughters and enjoys smoking delicious meats and tackling monumental remodeling and landscaping projects. Dan loves climbing, bouldering, carpentry, and crushing Peloton workouts.
Travis Squyres, FNP-C
Travis is a Tyler, Texas, native. He has many years of experience in orthopedic and interventional pain medicine, in addition to experience employing novel therapies for endocrine disorders. He is accustomed to thinking outside of the box when working with his patients to achieve their goals. Travis has three teenage daughters, an unbelievably gracious wife, and enjoys yoga, boating, camping, and never-ending renovation projects.
Alex Garza, MA
Alex is originally from the Rio Grande Valley but has made her home here in East Texas. With over 10 years of experience in the medical field, Alex brings compassion, knowledge, and excellent communication as Patient Coordinator. Additionally, she is pursuing a degree in Chemistry. In her free time, Alex enjoys practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with the whole family, hiking outdoors, and playing with her dog.
Khari Lee, MA
Khari was born and raised in East Texas. She has held multiple positions in the medical field, and brings a wealth of experience as our Patient Coordinator. Khari and her husband enjoy spending time with their two sons and three dogs—and are always open to adopting more! (Dogs, that is). Outside of work, Khari loves exploring the outdoors and cherishing time with her family.
